Our Mission is to create healthy neighborhoods through community development initiatives that cultivate the resources of residents, businesses, government and the faith-based community in serving those most vulnerable in our society.
Capacity
GSCDC has experienced and continues to experience rapid growth. From a staff of one in 1997, GSCDC has grown to exceed 30 full-time staff with an annual budget that exceeds $4 million. GSCDC currently serves an estimated 3,500 persons each year.
In 2012, GSCDC announced plans to serve communities through the State of New Jersey.

Due to our commitment to efficiency and quality, we have developed a reputation with federal, state and local government partners and private sector investors, as a results oriented organization that always gets the job done. This has allowed us to work together to plan strategically and implement initiatives that are cost effective, maximize impact and are sustainable in the long term.

Major Milestones
1986 - Incorporated
1993 - Completed rehabilitation of Public School #18 (Jersey City) into Resurrection House
1994 to 1997 - Undertook Mid City Project, a scattered site low income rental housing program
1997 - First executive director was hired
1998 - Acquired Corpus Christi Ministries Housing, Inc. and developed a six-unit building for operations
1999 - Instituted Opportunity Partners, a job readiness and training program
2002 - Implemented the Division of Mental Health Services (DMHS) Housing Initiative
2003 - Initiated Shelter Plus Care program and Hudson Creating Alliances to Shelter All (Hudson CASA) program
2004 - Offered training and placement activities as part of the National Retail Federation skills center network
2005 - Began administering the Mainstream Housing Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Program for people with ties to Hudson and Essex Counties
2009 - Instituted the Residential Intensive Support Team (RIST) Program, funded by the NJ Division of Mental Health Services.
2014 - Community Planning initiative, Greenville Community Partnership (GCP), has started implementation and begun receiving funds.
GSECDC is now Jersey City's largest provider of permanent supportive housing for people with disabilities with a total of 95 vouchers that make market rate housing affordable
